Here is a list of resources that the IDA Iowa board and members feel are important enough to share with the dyslexic community.

  • Accommodation Checklist – This is an accommodation checklist for determining the appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities and can be used for both IEPs and 504s.
  • Accommodation Samples – This is a sample of accommodations that have been used for students with disabilities and can be used for both IEPs and 504s.
  • IEP Accommodation Checklist – This is an accommodation checklist to determine the most appropriate IEP accommodations for your student with an IEP.
  • Dyslexia Signs and Symptoms – Here is a quick reference chart outlining signs and symptoms for students with dyslexia.
  • Dyslexia Myths and Facts – This is an information sheet from Decoding Dyslexia about some Myths and Facts about Dyslexia.
  • Iowa DEO Dyslexia Page – This is the website page on Dyslexia from the Iowa Department of Education.
  • Iowa DOE Dyslexia Handbook – This is the Dyslexia Handbook created by the Iowa DOE in conjunction with the DOE Dyslexia Board.
  • Iowa Reading Research Center – The IRRC, funded under the Iowa Department of Education and housed at the University of Iowa, has numerous resources on the science of reading and dyslexia.
  • What is Structured Literacy – IDA’s overview of structured literacy, the key to high-quality reading instruction for all.
